Below are a series of the most popular questions we recieve about our products

Accounts
caseware-accounts-logo Do the accounts integrate with CaseWare Corporation Tax?

Yes.  Again a separate module is available for taxation and these working sheets can be activated from any Accounts engagement file.  All of the mappings used are consistent between Accounts and tax, so there will be no need to re-map any nominal codes.

caseware-accounts-logo Can I file the accounts directly with Companies House?

Yes. This requires an additional module, but once purchased, you can tag and submit your Accounts electronically – saving you time and money.

caseware-accounts-logo Does everything roll forward?

Yes, all of the Wizard information, trial balance figures, journals and Wizard information will roll into the next year.  Users are given the option when undertaking a roll forward to amend any of these settings but in the vast majority of cases, all documents will be required in the subsequent year’s engagement file.

caseware-accounts-logo What about group consolidation?

This is achieved by either combining multiple single entity engagement files within CaseWare – or you can add multiple entities within one file and effectively use several TB’s for each entity in the one engagement file.

Eliminating journals are likely to be required, but these can be entered by selecting the applicable entity available from a drop-down selector within the journal entry screen.  N.B. this option is only available when you do have more than one entity – so you would not see this additional column within a single entity engagement.

caseware-accounts-logo What formats can I print the completed accounts to?

You can print preview the accounts by way of the toolbar or you can export to PDF or to Word in Rich Text Format.  Of course you can also print out the document.

caseware-accounts-logo Does it tag accounts with iXBRL?

All of our standard content will be fully tagged to the relevant taxonomies for UK and Irish entities.  Where our standard content is amended, users can easily amend the default tag and similarly, any new content can be tagged manually to whichever taxonomy is applicable.

A helpful “traffic light” review tool shows which parts of the accounts are tagged to a CaseWare standard tag (green), an amended tag (orange), or a new user-created tag (yellow).  If any tags are omitted, they will show up in red.

caseware-accounts-logo What about custom audit/directors reports?

If you wish to divert from the CaseWare standard reports, you can customise your own layouts and wording with ease.  This can then be saved out as a “firm standard” which can be applied to multiple engagements.

caseware-accounts-logo What about roundings?

Users can easily clear genuine rounding differences on the face of the accounts.  Occasionally the difference may necessitate an adjusting journal – for example your carried forward net book value of a fixed asset category in the PY may differ from the brought forward equivalent amount in the current year.

You can also easily round your accounts to thousands or millions and apply decimal places, if required, to each figure.

caseware-accounts-logo Can I use logos?

Yes, logos can be add via the “Insert Object” option.  These can form part of the custom cover page (if applicable) which can be used across multiple engagement files.  Alternatively, the insert object functionality is available throughout the Accounts.

caseware-accounts-logo Will I spend hours sorting notes, adding page breaks or renumbering pages?

Page breaks and page numbering are both automatic, although if a user wishes to insert additional page breaks before, after or in the middle of a note, they can do so easily.  Page numbering if automatic and the contents page will similarly update on-the-fly.

caseware-accounts-logo How do I know it all adds up?

We have multiple sense checks in place to ensure that notes add up to the correct total and these feed up to the primary statements.  If you do encounter rounding differences, these can be cleared easily providing you still fall within your selected rounding tolerance.  For example if the top half of your balance sheet differs from the bottom by £3, you can clear the entire amount to one line of the Balance sheet (Stock for example) or you can allocate £2 to Stocks and £1 to Creditors.  The difference will then appear within the notes themselves, with users given a choice of where to clear the same difference on the individual note.

caseware-accounts-logo Can I add new or replacement notes easily?

Virtually all out of the box content can be edited on the face of the accounts – whether you want to add a new table or amend an existing paragraph.  For larger modifications such as custom audit reports, you can save a “firm standard” and apply this (instead of the default CW version) across multiple engagement files.

caseware-accounts-logo What if my auditor disagrees? How easy is it to edit the accounts?

Virtually all out of the box content can be edited on the face of the accounts – whether you want to add a new table or amend an existing paragraph.  For larger modifications such as custom audit reports, you can save a “firm standard” and apply this (instead of the default CW version) across multiple engagement files.

caseware-accounts-logo How often does CaseWare update statutory content?

E-Pack updates are sent out roughly every couple of months although the timing and nature of the updates will depend partly on changes in statute.  We send out detailed notes with every update

caseware-accounts-logo How do I get all the standing data into the accounts?

The Wizard document guides the user through all of the data which is not populated via the trial balance (such as Director names, company number, company staff numbers etc.) This process is hastened by the addition of the Companies House import routine which allows the user to pull down the registered name, director details, registered office and other pertinent information by way of the company registration number.

caseware-accounts-logo How can I add/remove or sort standard content quickly?

We have a Notebuilder which enables users to build any note quickly and easily.  There are also tools available to build a note on the fly from the face of the Accounts using our custom note tool.  Once the content has been built, you can sort the content into the relevant position using the sorting option on the toolbar on the face of the Accounts.
