Ashley Goldsmith Product Manager, Accounts

I joined CaseWare in 2008 as an Accounts & Audit Software Trainer after completing an ACCA qualification whilst working as an Audit Senior with Horwath Clark Whitehill (now Crowe Clark Whitehill) in Kent. I became Product Manager for Accounts in 2013 and I am now responsible for defining and delivering CaseWare’s suite of Accounts Production templates.

“Working at CaseWare allows me to stay close to my accounting background, whilst working in a relaxed and creative environment.”

How has your career changed since you first started working at CaseWare?

I joined CaseWare in 2008 after previously working in practice for 7 years and qualifying via the ACCA route.  Initially I joined CaseWare’s training team and I spent most of my time on the road, delivering training to clients across the UK on our Accounts and Audit templates.
In 2012 I became more office-based when working on the IFRS template and building up our range of content available to IFRS clients.   I was then appointed Product Manager of Accounts Production a few years later and I now head up the Compliance team and work closely with the Development and QA teams in order to ensure that our software remains compliant.

How did you get into Product Management?

I studied Computing and Management Science at University which could have led to a wide variety of careers but I took a “wild” module in my final year in Accountancy (really wild!) and I enjoyed it so much that on completion of my degree I started to look into jobs within that industry and I took my first full-time job as a Trainee Accountant based on the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells in 2001.
It was a small practice so my work varied from accounts preparation to audit and tax work – giving me a good solid understanding of each area whilst studying towards my professional qualification.  In 2005 when I qualified, I joined a larger practice (who used CaseWare) in their audit department and after 3 years of pure auditing, I decided to look for a change in career path and given my CaseWare experience, the Training role was a perfect fit.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy pretty much all sports but having hit 40 I tend to play more cricket and golf than football these days! I play cricket for Eridge Cricket Club near Tunbridge Wells every Sunday and play golf whenever I can across the summer.  I also enjoy walking and took part in the “Mighty Hike” for Macmillan Cancer Research in 2019 – a 26 mile route along the South Downs from Brighton to Eastbourne.
I also like to explore different parts of the world with my wife when holidaying and it is our aim to visit as many countries as we can together.
